The Grand Social Media Experiment. We learn by doing.

It is not just enough to build a website, set up a Twitter account, make a splash with FACEBOOK. Content management guides the direction of your organization in these ways:

  1. Content management (CM) defines how you’re going to use content to meet your business goals.
  2. CM guides company decisions about content throughout its lifecycle.
  3. CM Sets benchmarks to measure success.

According to, Content Management for the Web, by Halverson and Rach.  (Rach was FB first content manager) content management can improve traffic and response to digital channels. Know your message, know where you want to go, know what you said and how others respond. In the next few weeks I’m going to go over some of the high-points of content management, using the above textbook about CM.

First, begin to track your content by setting up an Excel spreadsheet for each week of your Social Media Class, with headings for WordPress, Pintrest, Twitter and Facebook. I have other columns marked with notes and questions suggested by Melonie.

Set textwrap and color code each week. This gives you an idea of your desired content and allows a better, cohesive workflow. ZT
