The Grand Social Media Experiment. We learn by doing.

Adding Value to Social Media

One of the easiest ways to add value to your social media networks is sharing great content with your followers. Ideally, you should share content that is relevant to your line of business, because this will position you as an industry expert in your field. It is also important that you do not only share your own content, because then you are only promoting yourself and you will lose credibility. Of course, if you do write an insightful blog about a new trend in your business, you should share it on your social media networks. Just be careful to also share content from sources other than yourself.

It is also a good idea to boost the networks of the people that follow you on social media networks, because this will encourage them to do the same for you. This means retweeting interesting content on Twitter that has been shared by people you follow. You can also include commentary when you retweet content, either adding encouragement or adding your own view.

Encourage the people that follow you to keep following you by giving them incentives. As a business, you can use social media to thank your customers for their support. You can also use social media networks to give your followers occasional coupons or discounts. This is a way of rewarding, and also encouraging their loyalty.
